1. The Choice Is Yours!

March 3, 2010 by Rabin Bhandari

Choice is what it’s all about when event planners decide on their venue and caterer.
Food, atmosphere, budget options, services…no one wants to pay for what they don’t want, just what meets their vision and needs. Luckily, there’s an Edmond restaurant/caterer that delivers excellence with the added benefit of numerous options.

Hello, my name is Rabin Bhandari, the general manager of Lottinvilles Restaurant and Bar. I actually began working at Lottinvilles as a server, working my way up through management.. Many people in the restaurant and catering business tend to move around, but I have always enjoyed Lottinvilles creativity, management style, warmth, commitment to quality, and especially, the clientele we attract. As General Manager, I am responsible for the usual responsibilities of inventory, coordinating the management staff, cost/quality control, and maintaining the pleasant environment, but something I also enjoy greatly is working with our team to create special events.

The first option at Lottinvilles is whether you’d prefer to have you event here at the restaurant or have us cater another location.

Our oval shaped restaurant is designed in Santa Fe warmth and charm. Events at Lottinvilles range from a single table of family and friends to corporate meetings, and larger receptions and parties. Our main restaurant accommodates up to 180 guests and you have the option of using part or all of that space. We also have a private room with a big screen television for up to 40 guests. Our bar area’s fireplace adds to the intimacy and atmosphere of the restaurant.

The regular restaurant menu is full of choices – something to please every taste from entrees such as enchiladas, prime steaks, meatloaf and risotto. In addition, our chef prepares a daily dinner and fish special, such as duck breast, rack of lamb, sea bass or Mahi Mahi. Dessert choices include crème brulee, key lime and pecan pies.
Another area of choice is our extensive wine list with a variety of popular, but not overly expensive selections.

Lottinvilles Restaurant and Bar also offers the choice of off-site catering at the venue of your choice. We can accommodate any type of food from simple sandwiches, hot and cold hors d’oeuvres or an elegant 5-course meal. Our in-house baker will also prepare a special cake for your occasion, upon request.

In addition to supplying the food, you choose how many or few additional services you would like us to handle. We will be happy to coordinate one or every aspect of your event with our trusted resources – tables/chairs, linens, entertainment, florists and bar service – the choice is yours.

When planning your next event, remember that choices and decisions are easier and budget-friendly when they all come from one place that values your business and is committed to having your event, your way. If you haven’t visited Lottinvilles Restaurant and Bar, consider having Sunday brunch with us. We’re located at the Southeast corner of Kelly and 15th Street in Edmond.

  3. Catching Dreams with Horses

    by Sondra Reeves

Hello, my name is Sondra Reeves, the owner of Dreamcatcher Carriage and Party Ponies in Tulsa. I’m lucky to have been around horses all my life. After graduating with a degree in education, I worked in the Human Resources field, but eventually decided to pursue my real passion, which is horses, and share that love with other people.

I discovered the joy of carriage driving when my daughter brought home our first team from Minnesota.   The business began with offering Christmas carriage rides, but the referrals grew the business to include weddings, adult and children’s birthday parties, anniversaries, romantic proposals – all types of events all over Oklahoma.
Currently, we have 11 large draft horses and 15 ponies that range from 37” to 46,” the larger of which can accommodate children up to 65 pounds.   In addition to carriages, we have a horse-drawn trolley, pony carrousel and hayride wagon. Our vehicles are handicapped accessible.
The horses are well trained with experienced drivers. The horses are also “street legal,” which means we’re licensed to drive them on private streets and at all sorts of venues, including churches, schools, corporate gatherings, hotel parking lots and even private backyards for the smaller birthday ponies.
At our own 25-acre ranch in Sapulpa, just outside Tulsa, we host campouts, hayrides and theme parties.
Dreamcatcher Carriage and Party Ponies works individually with each client, decorating our carriage and horses with color-coordinated flowers and plumes. We can even decorate them according to your theme; some we have done in the past include tuxedo, western, Mexican, East Indian and more.
If you’re planning on thrilling a child with ponies at their birthday parties, popping the question on a romantic carriage ride, or incorporating horses into any church, school or corporate event, let Dreamcatcher Carriage and Party Ponies help you realize your own special event dream.

Horses have always been an animal that inspires the dreams of humans.   Whether it’s their grace, strength or spirit, adults and children are drawn to horses and have incorporated them into special events for thousands of years.

  4. A Winning Event Place? You Bet!

January 4, 2010 by Christy McCormack

What could be more thrilling than watching your favorite horse cross the finish line?

Sharing the action, fun and excitement with your entire group of racing fans at Remington Park in Oklahoma City!

Hello, my name is Christy McCormack, Remington Park’s Groups Sales Manager.

I’ve  worked at Remington Park just about my entire adult life!  I began at the age of 22 in Guest Relations helping people navigate the facility.  Next, I went to the Racing Information Center where I assisted people in understanding the program and learning how to wager.   In 1996, I became Group Sales Coordinator and  promoted to Group Sales Manager when Remington Park’s casino opened in 2005.

Remington Park offers exceptional value to event and meeting planners.   You can book your racing group from 20 – 600 people and enjoy free stadium seating.  Or, if you wish to pre-purchase catering and programs, we’ll also be happy to arrange those services, as well.

For motor coach operators, we offer two packages.  Our Tourism Package allows operators to include Remington Park as part of a tour package with no time limit at the casino.   This free package includes $10 free-play for guests and free sourvenirs – even if the motor coach is simply visting Remington Park as a rest stop.  Lunch (including box lunches) for the group can be pre-purchased at a discounted rate.

We also have a Preferred Operator Package for motor coach operators.  When set up in advance, Remington Park  pays reputable operators a per person commission with a 12 12 month, 4 group minimum contract.

Especially popular are  Remington Park’s complimentary stable tours enjoyed by children, adults and seniors.  For about two hours, groups ranging in size from 10 to 50 have the pleasure of visiting our barns to experience “A Day in the Life of a Race Horse.”

You might be surprised to learn that about 85% of Remington Park’s Group Sales business comes from catering.  Our luxury suites accommodate 15 – 65 people for wedding rehearsal dinners, wedding showers, bachelor parties, birthday parties, as well as monthly corporate meetings.   Our Eclipse Banquet Room is perfect for larger events, up to 350 reception style and 300 banquet style.

Remington Park hosts a great number of corporate events, especially day meetings that often roll into social entertaining and wagering in the evening.   In January 2010, we will begin a $3 – $5 million dollar renovation and upgrading our meeting spaces which will include the latest technology in audio/visual equipment.

If you’re looking for a unique place to take your tour group, hold a corporate meeting or checking out venue choices for your wedding or other special event, don’t settle for a location that odds are will only “place or “show.”  Bet on the favorite to win every time – Remington Park!

  5. Whodunit Dinner Theater

November 1, 2009 by Terri Myers

    Murder Most Hilarious!

It’s been said that everyone loves a good murder mystery.  That’s especially true when the “whodunit”  (and a good laugh) is shared over a delicious meal among friends, family and business associates.

Hello, my name is Terri Myers, Director of Whodunit Dinner Theater.  I began my association with Whodunit back in 1991 when I was a 16-year old actress in the shows.  I performed over an 18-year period with the theater, as well as in commercials and for modeling assignments.

Whodunit Dinner Theater has always been a family run business with tasteful productions suitable for any age and church group.  So, when my husband, Eric, and I began the responsibilities of running the theater several years ago, we decided to continue the tradition of fun, family-appropriate entertainment.   While I’m busy directing and communicating with the actors, Eric is managing backstage and taking care of business.  (Read More…)

  6. Oklahoma River Cruises

October 1, 2009 by Jody Hamilton

    River Parties!

The first item on a party planner’s agenda is usually choosing the perfect location.  You could choose a typical land-lover spot.  But, why not let the good times keep “rollin’ on the river” with your very own party ferry!

Hello, my name is Jody Hamilton, the event and group coordinator for Oklahoma River Cruises, a public ferry service on the Oklahoma River in Oklahoma City.  I moved to Oklahoma City after having been an manager for a large company in Tulsa.  I was looking for something fun to do while meeting people. Being a ticket agent for the newly opened Oklahoma River Cruises seemed like…well, just the ticket.  Being such a new company, I had an opportunity to learn the business from the ground up and was quickly promoted to Event and Group Coordinator.  The job’s more fun than I could have hoped for and it’s great working for a company that’s growing and innovating all the time.

Oklahoma River Cruises run public ferry service along a seven mile stretch of the Oklahoma River between the Meridian and Regatta Landings.  The cruisers travel through two locks for the eighteen feet of elevation needed to make the trip.  It is just like the Panama Canal, only smaller and much faster.  This seven mile section of the river is part of the North Canadian River which was damned and controlled with a 2-lock system and is now called the Oklahoma River.  Our Regatta Park Landing is located about three blocks south of Bricktown near downtown Oklahoma City.  (Read More…)

    by Floyd Hannah

    So Good, We’re Scary!

Halloween is almost here!  Time for goblins and goodies, pumpkins and parties for children of all ages.  Luckily, you don’t have to go door to door to find the best costumes, decorations and party supplies.   Just visit the one place that’s been Tulsa’s Halloween, wedding and party headquarters for more than 50 years!

Boo!  My name is Floyd Hannah.  My wife Lynn and I are co-owners of Ehrles Party Supply in Tulsa.  Although we specialize in all types of seasonal, holiday and wedding  supplies, Halloween is without a doubt our busiest time of the year.

Lynn and I had gone to high school together and were both attending the University of Tulsa in 1971 when her parents asked me to help out at their party supply business for New Years.  I really enjoyed it, so after Lynn and I got married and the Ehrles decided to retire, we decided to carry on the family tradition.  It’s a wonderful way to meet fun “party people” who are a looking forward to a good time.  It’s a happy business filled with excitement and the challenge of something new each day.

At Ehrles, you’ll find the very latest, most popular and unique costumes for children and adults.  Whether you’re looking for creepy or cute, Ehrles also has all the decorations to make your Halloween Party the one that leaves them screaming for more.  Imagine surprising your guests with a giant spider that drops 3’ down at the slightest sound!  And, what would a party be without body parts hanging around? Invitations, streamers, coordinated napkins, favors, piñatas for Halloween or a seasonal fall celebration are all here at Ehrles.  More choices than you can chase a broomstick at!

Ehlres isn’t just a Halloween store.  We also have one of the largest selections of wedding supplies and accessories in the state, including beverage fountains, candelabras, silverware, dish and glassware, tables, linens, invitations, garters, photo albums…even a wood or brass archway and gazebo.
