  2. Downtown in December

    by Jessica Gonzalez

Yes, Virginia.  There is a Downtown in December!

Where can you find the largest man-made snow tubing venue in the southwest?  Believe it or not, right here in downtown Oklahoma City.  And, that’s just one of the many holiday festivities in this polar playground during the 2009 Downtown in December – our eighth and best year yet! Hello, I’m Jessica Gonzalez.  As Director of Events for Downtown Oklahoma City, Inc, the most rewarding benefit of my job is planning and coordinating events so that Downtown OKC is an exciting and vibrant place, especially in December.

You might think that my former career as an accountant wouldn’t prepare me for coordinating large events.  But, as an accountant for Downtown OKC, I had the benefit of knowing how to set and work within the budget.  The financial picture actually created a sort of blueprint of the event…who to hire, where to purchase items…virtually every piece of the giant, event puzzle.  And, although I’ve always enjoyed accounting, I’m also a real people person who loves making something happen.  So, when Downtown OKC’s Director of Events position became available, I leaped at the opportunity!

  3. Dinsmore Studio

    by Mandy Davis

    Picture Perfect for 60 years!
Today’s technology has lead some to believe that taking great photos is just a matter of point, click and the camera will do the rest.   The truth is that exceptional photos, especially for those that capture moments of a lifetime, still depend on who’s behind the camera. Creativity, experience and the eye of an artist simply can’t be duplicated by high-tech.
Hello, my name is Mandy Davis, Manager and Photographer for Dinsmore Studio.  Before becoming a photographer in 1997, I had plans for a career in graphic design and advertising.  However, there simply wasn’t a design school in Enid where I lived.  With a new baby, I decided to stay close to home and not go away to school.  A local photography company sent me to school and my career blossomed from there, especially after I moved to Oklahoma City to become a photographer at Dinsmore Studio.
