1. Opportunity Knocks!

December 9, 2010 by Magid Assaleh

Opportunities often disguise themselves into the background of our everyday lives. During my busy career as an event planner and country club manager, my talent for exceptional cooking and classic presentation would emerge as the perfect opportunity.

Hello! I’m Magid Assaleh of Classic Catering by Magid. My hospitality industry career began 29 years ago when I became the Food & Beverage Manager of Quail Creek Country Club in 1981 then the General Manager of 2 country clubs in Oklahoma including Oakwood in Enid, Willow Creek in Oklahoma City, and Sherwood Forest in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, this allowed me to plan and serve thousands of members and guests.

During those years I had the rare privilege of touring many wineries and private cellars in Napa and Sonoma Valley, giving me unforgettable insight into the art of wine. As my enthusiastic expertise in cuisine and wine developed, others noticed. In 1987 I was honored as the first Maitre D’ to be inducted to the Oklahoma chapter of La Chain Des Rotisseurs. Many dishes I’ve created over the years remain on the menus of almost every country club I managed.

After the crash of 2008 the country club I managed struggled to recover and this year was forced to delete my general manager position. While I could have pursued other offers, I accepted requests from people who wanted me to manage and cater their events. An opportunity was before me and I thought “Why not do this for a living?” Just two months later, I am busy planning and catering many parties.

The rules that govern my business are simple: never serve anything that I would not eat and never underestimate a customer’s expectations. From food preparation to presentation, I make sure everything is perfect. My goal is to overwhelm clients with the highest service and food that is to die for! My staff is trained to make sure the food looks and tastes the way it should. No one has time for apologies so we make sure we get it right from the beginning.

As a gourmet cook, I prepare everything from scratch so the food is fresh and yields the highest flavor. The international menu delivers Mediterranean, Italian, Mexican and American. Comfort food is a favorite among Oklahomans so I secured two excellent Bar-B-Que chefs and use my own family recipes for hand battered catfish, chicken tenders, mashed potatoes with gravy, steaks and much more. Of course I continue to craft my own signature creations so you can taste something new!

From hors d’œuvre to full plated dinners, we cater exactly what our clients want with the service they deserve. Free event planning is included with our services, saving clients money and time. Allow me the pleasure of showing you all that we bring to your next special event!

  3. Go Home Happy!

    by Jaja Cline

Life is a winding road, full of surprises. I think it’s the things we love to do, the things we’re truly good at that help us stay on the right path to success and fulfillment. As a special event planner, interior designer and certified home stager, my job is to be creative and make people happy. What could be more fulfilling than that?

I’m Jaja Cline, owner of Décor by Jaja. Twenty years ago a bend in my road came into view when a good friend got engaged and needed help with the big day. I loved it and after that first wedding, the next thing I knew I was helping every bride-to-be in my family.

In between weddings, I started doing interior painting and home décor when I discovered I could envision a whole new room after it was time to put all the furnishings back together. My friends and family loved my work and as word spread, I soon found myself decorating, remodeling, and planning everything from corporate and to social events.

Four years ago I became a certified home stager to maximum a home for sale in the real estate market. Staging allows your home to be “show ready” at all times and for you to be “move in ready” for your new home after the sale. A staged home is all about the home itself. We remove your personal imprint and showcase the space of your home so the buyer can “see” themselves living there.

For couples, I help them decide between trash or treasure and spare them the feud over what can go and what can stay! This service allows a smooth, stress free transition and provides them with a home that debuts their united taste and style.

When it comes to redecorating or remodeling, I take the time to find out what you love and fashion your home as a reflection of who you are. A lot of decorators expect you to love what they like and then charge a few thousand dollars for a home that you don’t really feel is you! I find out what colors you like, what styles you enjoy, and the kind of atmosphere you want to encounter when you walk through the door. As a frugal person myself, I only charge my clients $200 a day and make sure we take advantage of sales.

My greatest joy is hearing someone say how much they love to go home or the distant laughter at an event I’ve planned for someone. Seeing the delight in their eyes and the smiles on their faces are the true signs of a job well done. I love making people happy!

In addition to event planning, home décor and staging, I also offer holiday decorating and personalized gift wrap for the busy season. Contact me and we’ll explore what we can accomplish together for your next special event or home décor project!
