  3. Bathed in Chocolate!

    by Christine Burleson

There’s nothing quite as elegant or as delicious as your favorite foods bathed in decadent chocolate! This sweet flowing, cascading indulgence is a must for any special occasion and chocolate fountains provide that extra special touch to delight your guests.

I’m Christine Burleson, owner of Chocolate Fountains of Oklahoma. I started my business with sixteen years experience in a totally different industry. I was crunching numbers and juggling finance as a regional manager for a non-profit consumer credit counseling agency. A few years ago I decided to pursue something else I loved, chocolate!

I purchased a high quality, commercial fountain and found a reputable company in California to stock my fountains with the most authentic, flavorful chocolate. My daughter encouraged me to pursue my idea and it worked out well because she also worked in the hospitality industry. It wasn’t long before I had to buy a second fountain and hire help to handle the steady flow of business…and chocolate!

I have a lot of fun with my business and I creatively design the table and the chocolate! Want pink chocolate instead of brown? What about white or red? By simply adding food coloring, we can turn your fountain into an even more colorful display that matches your color theme. You can dip virtually anything in chocolate from fruit and pastries to crackers, pretzels and candy. I also offer to provide my clients with food at a very low cost.

I’m as passionate about personalized, professional customer service as I am about chocolate. I arrive an hour and a half before the event begins to ensure that the table is set up and an attendant ensures the food stays stocked and the fountain operates perfectly. No one has to worry about anything!

My prices are competitive and affordable and I even offer to provide food for the fountain at only an additional $2 per person! I can accommodate up to 500 guests for wedding receptions, corporate functions, proms or smaller events like tea parties, luncheons, and birthday bashes.

Let us celebrate the love of chocolate with you and your guests for your next event! Visit us online at www.chocolatefountainsofoklahoma.com or contact us at 405-202-7629

  4. Save Money One Invite at a Time!

    by Kerri Holleyman

There are a lot of things about planning a wedding that are very expensive. We all know the adage of “make a budget and add 10%”. Paper Trendz is a local vendor that is doing their part to make weddings a little more affordable!

As owner of the local invitation boutique, Paper Trendz, I see so many brides exasperated by things that end up needlessly costing more for their wedding. We opened Paper Trendz year or so after getting married myself. While planning my wedding, I fell in love with the paper and invitation process but realized it was a little expensive. The interactions were sometimes less than personal. So the mission emerged to offer the highest quality invitation without breaking the bank. We chose to work by appointment only and not in a large retail store to both pass great discounts on to our brides and provide a “personal touch” experience. You become our friend, not just our customer.

The invitation is important because it’s the first impression of your union and sets the tone for your Wedding. It also creates expectations for either a fun, relaxed party or an elegant, black tie affair. In addition to the invitation, there are so many accessories that should tie in with the theme of your event. There are place card settings, thank you cards, menu cards, favor boxes and more. Are you overwhelmed yet? That’s where we can help you with tips like placing just two menu cards at each table instead of one for every place setting. Little things like that will still create an exquisite look and make your budget smile.

Saving money is like finding gold these days, but it’s risky to do your invitations yourself and it could cost you more. If you go the online route, you’re just a number and if that vendor makes a mistake it’s almost impossible to get it fixed. If you select a local printer, you’ll find it’s more costly for that printer to run 350 pieces than it is 2,500. The invitation process is very detailed and there are so many options you might not get, simply because you don’t know they’re available.

That’s where Paper Trendz comes in. We work to save brides money without giving up the things they want. If they need to save some on the invitation to include napkins or place settings, we do it, but only if you are completely happy with the outcome. If there is ever a mistake, we are a phone call away and we work to quickly resolve any issue. Paper Trendz will make sure each different piece of paper is a cohesive reflection of your event and that you get exactly what you ordered.

Lastly, don’t forget about unique addressing services for your envelopes. The color and quality are equal to the invitation with fonts that appear to be hand written. If you would like the truly handwritten address, we work with great calligraphers. Self inking stamps are a fun addition to use for thank you cards or any correspondence that needs a special touch. Paper Trendz handles everything from announcements for graduates, babies, weddings, and engagements to diaper cakes, stationary, and address labels. Visit our website to see our versatile options, designs and services plus you can even book your appointment online at www.papertrendz.com.

In February, we will be at our great new location at Studio Mid-Town 1138 North Robinson (just west of Broadway and 10th street).

I’m Mike Jackson, Operations Manager at the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center in Shawnee, Oklahoma. For 31 years we’ve hosted large events drawing people in agriculture, travel, and sports from all over America. In 2005 our newest building served as the perfect solution for social events like weddings, corporate parties, conventions and artistic galas. Our newest facility offers you the latest in technology, customizable space options, an on site kitchen with renown catering services, and much more!

Our ballrooms can accommodate events from 50 to 600 guests and with modern lighting options, big screen TV’s, projectors, Wifi internet access…all the audio and visual amenities you need to deliver your presentation and set the mood for your event easily. We have no restrictions on décor and the facility’s choice of neutral colors gives you a blank canvas to cast your vision for any event. Couples love the ballroom dance floor and the option of space upstairs to dress and relax before the wedding march begins.

We are also very generous to our clients when it comes to set up and decoration. We allow clients to begin the design process 24 hours before the event and you can stay until the job’s done, free of charge! Whenever possible, we like to make sure yours is the only booking, allowing you complete control of lobby décor. Our prices include a set up and tear down fee, use of tables and chairs, and we make sure there are no surprises on the final bill.

Droffats Catering brings you 25 years experience in the industry, serving satisfying and creative hors d’ eurves, buffets, or full plated dinners with your choice of American or International menu options. Our licensed and ensured caterer, Ken Stafford will manage your linen needs and ensure that a cash bar is available to serve your guests responsibly and professionally.
