Embassy Suites and Conference HotelFare Fit for an Embassy!

Oklahoma event planners are thrilled that Norman has a brand new hotel.  And, it’s not just any hotel.  Owned and operated by John Q. Hammons, this state-of-the-art Embassy has everything that makes for a successful event – including 283 suites, a Presidential Suite and an impressive catering department.

Executive Chef, Miguel Olmedo

Hello, my name is Miguel Olmedo, the Executive Chef at Norman’s Embassy Suites and Conference Hotel which opened in October of 2008.  I’ve specialized in hotel food preparation my entire career.  In fact, my first job was at the Queen Mary Hotel in Long Beach California right after high school.  For the next seven years, I rotated through the different hotels managed by that same company.

In 1996, I attended the Culinary Institute of America in New York where I concentrated my education in classic French cooking. Then, while employed at an Austin, Texas Conference Center, I expanded my expertise to include Tex-Mex cuisine and Bar-B-Que.  Next, it was off to Branson, Missouri and my first opportunity to work for a John Q. Hammons Four Diamonds Hotel.  I was thrilled to accept the Executive Chef position at the John Q. Hammons Embassy in Norman – recognized throughout the country as a very up and coming city.

Tex Mex BuffetThe Norman Embassy has 80,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space. We comfortably accommodate groups as large as 2300 using classic seating and 2000 buffet style.  Event planners are quite impressed with the variety of our catering menu:  Tex-Mex, Pacific Rim (a lighter, healthier California cuisine), Italian, Classic French and Asian themed buffets are all popular choices.   I personally enjoy customizing menus to suit any occasion and taste.

In addition to supplying food and beverage, our sales and catering department is specially trained to expertly coordinate all event needs – everything from state-of-the-art audio/visual services to floral arrangements, guest suites, transportation and entertainment options.

SwanFor smaller groups or an intimate gathering of family and friends, the Embassy has an excellent restaurant, the North Park Grill, with two private dining rooms. We serve a delicious breakfast buffet seven days a week, as well as a complimentary reception with wine, beer and snacks for our guests. We also host a five-course wine dinner each month, and would be happy to add you to our mailing list.

If you haven’t yet visited the new Embassy Suites and Conference Center in Norman, please accept my personal invitation to become acquainted with all we have to offer. I look forward to being of service, including arranging a customized menu and private tasting for your special event.
