Tips & Ideas

A ‘Hot’ Gift or Event Idea

If you’re considering a hot air balloon ride for a gift or event idea, be sure to do some research ahead of time.  Companies vary in the options they have available and how many passengers they can accommodate.  To be able to see out of the balloon, children must be over 44” tall.  Consider the fact that there are a number of steps going up to the balloon, so it may not be appropriate for some seniors or the physically challenged.  Weather is always a factor, so it’s a good idea to have a back-up date or plan.

Planning a corporate event isn’t a job for amateurs. Letting your Aunt Betty plan a baby shower is fine. However, when it comes time to planning the food and fun responsibilities for a company event or casino party, beware!  Choose an event company that can provide in-house, turnkey event planning and production.  It will save you money in the long run, as well as provide the quality and service your guests expect and deserve. Sorry Aunt Betty!

Back-Up Plan

When creating a list of details to discuss with your caterer, be sure to ask for their back-up plan in case a problem arises.  What if their car breaks down or they get caught in traffic on the way to the event?  What if scheduled help doesn’t show-up?  Smaller caterers of friends and family may not have the ability to react quickly in an emergency.  Consider using a caterer that has a “network” of resources at their disposal.

Cash Bars

When considering bar service for your event, remember that cash bars may be appropriate for some corporate or fundraising events, but are not suitable for private affairs, such as weddings and anniversaries.  Also find out what your legal liability is when serving alcohol at the event.  Consider hiring licensed, insured bartenders who are specially trained to monitor and control alcohol consumption.
