    November Tips & Ideas

    Out of the Box

When you’re deciding on entertainment for your event, think out of the box.  Think “interactive”- something that invites everyone to get involved, not just as a participant, but gets the whole group talking and interacting.  The goal is to get your employees, guests and family members sharing an experience and a memory. Remember, laughter is the best medicine to cure a ho-hum event.

    Any Questions?

Before you interview professional event planners or vendors, take the time to make a list of as many questions as possible.  A couple of important points often overlooked are: What’s your contingency plan if something should go wrong?  Do you offer event insurance?  How much experience do you have in this type of event?  Ask them to supply references not just on their services, but also on the caterer, florist, entertainment and other vendors they will be coordinating.

    Preparation is Everything

Prep those things you can do ahead of time that still hold their quality. Preparing food ahead of time will allow those flavors to come through even more as it marinades, so get some help around the kitchen and get to work!

    What Holiday Stress?

With so many things on your to do list for the holidays, it’s pretty easy to get swamped. Get ready ahead of time by scheduling your tasks a month in advance. Be realistic but stick to the dates and you’ll breeze through those last minute details.

    Wedding Tips & Ideas

    Elegant Weddings

Glamourous weddings are the ‘in’ thing, but don’t stress, there are plenty of ways to have a beautiful formal event and stay on budget. Be sure and pick the most important aspects to YOU and then save on the other items. For example, if you LOVE flowers, spend your money on flowers and cut your costs on the wedding dress, food, etc.

    Destination Weddings

A beautiful setting on the white sandy beaches of Mexico or the snow-capped mountain tops of Colorado are becoming a huge wedding attraction. Destination weddings are becoming more popular everyday. They can even be less stressful and less expensive… many places have all inclusive packages with the only worry of showing up!

    Be Original

Wedding locations no longer have to include the usual country club setting or wedding hall at the church. Think outside the box and consider having your wedding at a local vineyard, art museum, your parents backyard, aquariums, or a ranch. There are endless places to create your perfect day!

BANQUETS & RECEPTION SITES… Start Looking Immediately - As soon as you announce the event date, start looking for your reception site. Be Flexible - During the busy wedding season (May-October and December), many reception sites can book as far as one year in advance, especially for Saturday evenings. A Touch of Flowers
A TOUCH OF FLOWERS!  If you don’t already have a florist, ask the venue where your event will be held to provide references for florists who have worked at the location. Schedule a meeting with a florist for large events or phone a florist for smaller events and be prepared with the following… Read More…
    Decorations, Themes & Prop
DECORATIONS, THEMES, & PROPS… WHY USE A THEME? It adds pizzazz to any event plus it provides interest and something to bring the attendees together. Planning is more efficient with a theme, creating an automatically organized process. In addition, the key to a successful event is audience participation. The more involved people become in the event they are attending, the more likely they are to enjoy themselves and remember the experience!  Read More…

  2. Q & A

    October 28, 2008 by andrea

    Q:
      Favors with a Local Flair
We want to give our guests something special with a local flavor. Any suggestions?

A:  You may consider greeting each of your guests with a gift basket filled with local treats. Baskets shaped like the state of Oklahoma can be filled with cheeses, salsas, Mason’s Nuts, Neighbor’s Coffee, and, to top it off, Oklahoma cow patties. Check our directory for gift ideas.

    Q:  Getting Guests around Town
Many of our guests are coming from out of town and we want to show off the best of Oklahoma City. Any fun transportation ideas?

A:  Transport your guests around the historic Bricktown area in a private, chartered water taxi with a guide to narrate all the points of interest along the canal.  You may also consider a trolley, limousine or shuttle based on the number of guests.  Check out our transportation ideas in our directory for a list of companies.
